ACOS
11 + 12 November
10am – 4pm
Organised by the Australian Ceramics Association, ACOS (aka Australian Ceramics Open Studios) is a nation-wide, weekend-long celebration of clay, community and creativity – themes close to our heart here at Waldie’s – with bonus points for alliteration. 🤗 We’re also loving the colour scheme of this year’s poster!
This year, we’re among over 200 studios welcoming visitors around the country – do stop by and say g’day!
We’ll be serving coffee* and cake (a topic also close to our hearts)
* buy a mug and we’ll fill it for free
* plus tea, hot chocolate and chai
and giving tours of the workshop – expect to see potters at work as they put the finishing touches on their projects for our annual end of year exhibition.
Readers in the south of Tas might like to make a day of it and visit our friends over at Muddle as well as Red Ochre and Potters Croft a bit further east. Yay for clay!
Sunday June 11th, 2023, 10 am – 4 pm
Mid-Winter Open Studio
2361 Channel Hwy, Lower Snug – look for the orange flags
This year our Open Studio Noodle Lunch Extravaganza will be a mid-winter affair. The fire will be roaring and the ramen will be steaming – it’s a celebration of everything we love about clay, food and community – come visit – old friends and new.
For those of you meeting us / Waldie’s for the first time – welcome! – our Open Studio Noodle Lunch Extravanganza (no need to say it quickly) is just that, an EXTRAVANGANZA! There will be studio tours, demonstrations, a pottery market and of course our famous noodle lunch…
- choose a bowl from the vast array of treasures made by members of the Waldie’s gang
- we’ll fill it with delicious home made ramen – gf + vegan / vegetarian options available
- find a seat by the fire, enjoy your noodles to the sound of live music, meet new people, have a Very Nice Time
- take your beaut new noodle (also good for porridge, pasta, ice cream etc) bowl home to enjoy every day
This year we are SUPER excited to be introducing Waldie’s merch – woo!
We’ve scoured the op shops* and have come back with some absolute gold that we will be screenprinting – in orange of course – with a range of designs… there’ll be the classic Waldie’s W, a futura FUN (Feminist Utopia Now) in homage to Barbara Kruger, most likely a G’arn** or two and probably even some Give it a shove**. You’ll want to get in quick to snap up a snazzy boiler suit.
If you’ve got a favourite shirt / bag / apron / clothing item, bring it along and we’ll print it live on the day.
AND (just because more is more) we’ll have a limited number of Margaret tea towels – linen of course.
Did I mention the awesome hamper of pottery related goodies that we’ll be raffling? And the lucky door prize?
Most of all, it’s a super fun day and we can’t wait to see you all.
* check out our instagram / faceplant posts for more about the choice to shop second hand.

Australian Ceramics Open Studio
Every year The Australian Ceramics Association invites ceramic studios around the country to throw open their doors for one epic weekend known as ACOS – Australian Ceramics Open Studios. This nation-wide event celebrates clay, community and creativity – words that resonate for us here at Waldie’s.
We will once again be throwing open our doors for the celebrations. In addition to studio tours, pottery demonstrations, and the opportunity to get your hands dirty, we’ll have pots to view and pots to buy. And, of course, we’ll be cooking up a ramen storm. Buy a handmade bowl, fill it with noodles, eat them in the sunshine to the sounds of our live band, and, best of all, take the bowl home when you’re done.
Check out the other local studios who will be opening their doors by visiting the ACOS website.
December 9th + 10th, 2022
Members’ Exhibition
We’ll open the studio again for our members’ end of year exhibition, when a year’s worth of work and their proud makers have their moment in the limelight. Those of you who came to our inaugural exhibition last year will know it doesn’t disappoint. And because we’re potters, we wouldn’t dream of doing it without food. We’ll spark up the pizza oven and get the band back in for the weekend. There’ll also be pots on sale for all your early Christmas shopping needs.
